The name: Kim

Do you guys have any names that you are quite fond of or detest?  Just curious.  I personally can’t think of one that I don’t like, but I really like the name Nicholas (hence that’s the name of my son) and if I should have a daughter (not anymore, too old now Lol)  I always wanted to name her Erin (after watching Erin Brockovich).  I love this name because I think it’s strong and heroic.

But today, I would like to share with you a name that I have really good fate with and that is the name:  Kim.  Let me describe my three friends and some funny anecdotes with you.

This is a really old picture of me, my boss in the middle and my supervisor on the right.  I think this was taken more than 20 years ago when I was working at a freight-forwarding company.  Although it’s a small company (just the three of us) it was actually one of my favourite places to work.  Working in a small environment definitely has many advantages.  I learned so much about the industry and build a spectacular relationship with my supervisor, Kimberly (Kim for short).  Not only did she taught me everything she knew, but I got to know her on a personal level.  Needless to say, she’s more like a friend than a co-worker.

Kim is very smart and efficient.  I also love how she was always open and honest.  She said that when she first spoke to me on the phone, she didn’t think that I was Chinese.  She thought I was Caucasian.  Lol.  While we were working, we often talked about our daily life and I remember a very embarrassing and funny moment.  One time, I told her I was “stoned” over the weekend and her jaws dropped.  She repeatedly asked me if I was really “stoned” and I confirmed YES, obviously not knowing the real meaning.  At that time, I thought it meant drunk not high.  LMAO!  I don’t think I ever clarify with her and of course, from then on, I dare not try to use any words without finding out the true meaning.

The last time I saw Kim was more than 17 years ago (when I had my first kid).  We had lunch together and I showed pictures of my son.  Since then we lost contact, I wish I can bump into her one day.  I hope she’s happy wherever she is.
If you’ve been following me for a while, I’m sure I don’t need to introduce you to my very good friend, Kim (A Very Sweet Blog).  Although we haven’t met each other yet, but I feel like I known her for a long time.  Kim followed me when I first started blogging and that was more than 5 years ago.  She has not only been my top supporter of my blog, but she cares about me in every aspect.  Blogging can be tough, and there are a few times I want to quit, but luckily I have Kim to give me her advice.  I feel like she’s a sister I never had.

I’m hoping to make a trip to New Orleans and meet Kim one day.  Most likely, it should be within the next 5 years.  I’m sure when I see her, I will give her the biggest hug ever!  Wait for me, Kim!

In the early days of internet, we are all warned to watch out for strangers (remember those horrible stories about meeting people online).  But nowadays, thanks to social media, we have so many apps that allow people to share common interests and it’s totally acceptable.  Instagram is my favourite social media platform because I met some really good people (mostly virtually) and one of them is Kim from (@onlymekimberly).  Although we have yet to meet in person, we have made a promise to meet up in spring and I’m sure it will happen because she lives in Vancouver.

I love it when followers become friends.  Kim and I share a lot of common interests.  She loves coffee and reading.  Whenever I’m stuck on what to read next, I can always rely on Kim to give me some good book recommendations.  And it seems like every weekend, I’d be drooling over her perfect latte and avocado toast posts.

So, that’s my list of the three Kims I absolutely adore.  Please share with me if you have any good relationship with anyone that shares the same name.  Thank you so much for reading!
