The Broad

I absolutely love museums.  Actually, I love arts in general.  When my sister asked if I was interested in visiting a contemporary museum in LA, I jumped at it.  I know that I will be visiting more historical museums in Europe so this is a good time to visit a modern one.

The Broad was pretty amazing.  Short and sweet I would say.  It only has two floors of modern art including conceptual art which was good enough for us.  Although admission is free, you should reserve tickets in advance to avoid any disappointment.

The Broad (rhymes with road) is right in downtown, LA.

Jeff Koons – Bouquet of Tulips

Get used to these three faces – you will see a lot of them in my Europe posts =)

Barbara Kruger – Untitled (“Your body is a battleground”), 1989

Robert Therrien – Under the Table

We had so much fun posing with these humongous chairs and table.

Las Vegas 2017

We stayed in LA for two days and then headed to Las Vegas to catch the Mariah Carey’s concert (which was phenomenal btw).  We stayed at the Palazzo.  Originally, we only booked a regular room, but my husband couldn’t pass up on a great deal and upgraded to a suite.  I noticed that you get a better deal in person than booking online.

Los Angeles 2017

We flew to LA right after San Fran.  I love it because I don’t have to sit in a car for 6 hours aka I’m not a road trip person.  Not because I hate driving, I just can’t stand boredom.  I also have the world’s tiniest bladder so I avoid drinking water and I hate looking for washrooms.  Well, you know what I mean, right?

I have been to LA many times because my mom’s family lives there.  I love visiting my grandmother and all my cousins, but it’s definitely not a place I want to stay for a long time.  Before showing pics of all the incredible food I consumed, I want to share three things I’ve never experienced in LA.

San Francisco 2017

Hello readers!  I apologize for taking so long to do a new post.  I just came back from Europe (actually it has been more than a week, but jet lag is for real) and I haven’t had a chance to organize my pictures.

I try to go on vacation once a year with my family, but this year I also went to Europe with my sisters.  I haven’t had a back to back trip in a while.  It was blissful but sure exhausting.  I spent the whole July and early August vacationing.  Don’t worry, I will have posts on the places I visited.  Now, let’s start with San Francisco.

This is my third time to SF but the last time I went was back in 2004.  I went with a few friends and also went to Napa Valley.  This time it was just a short 3 days trip, mainly to visit my husband’s friends whom we haven’t seen over 15 years.  We arrived in the late afternoon and just dined at Cheesecake Factory.  Then we went back to the hotel to rest up.

Believe it or not, I rarely eat dim sum in Vancouver but for some reason, I’m always down for Chinese food when I’m out of town.  The dim sums were pretty good, but it was pricey.  Actually, I think the reason is that our Canadian dollar is so weak, I find the food was rather expensive in SF.

One of my favourite dishes I like to order at dim sum is egg crisps.  It’s a Cantonese dim sum dessert made from a dough of eggs, flour, sugar, and lard.  Not many places make it well but this place, it’s perfect.

Abbotsford Tulip Festival

Don’t be fooled, I’m not that tall
I’m standing on a slope LOL

Beautiful, vibrant tulips – make sure you wear proper
shoes, it gets muddy in some areas

I’m so happy this picture turned out decent because my mom kept on telling me to
put my hand down.  And I’m like “mom, I want to take some artistic photos.”  Lol
